Note: Relevant trauma - At some point, Martin promised us that he was going to get us a pet octopus, and make a complex aquarium set up in the living room. This never ended up happening. He would often make promises of complex, expensive, and uncommon gifts then never deliver as an effort to make us seem crazy to other people for getting excited about things that he would later deny ever discussing.
